The YZ450F features a unique reverse head layout 39mm titanium intake valves forged aluminium piston plain bearing at large end and dry sump. It achieves high combustion efficiency in the low- to mid rpm range, with ample power higher in the range.
The frame features optimised structure and material thickness to achieve ideal torsional behaviour. Rigidity is reduced in response to upward thrusts, while maintaining longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity. This results in calm and highly stable front-end feeling, excellent chassis balance and contact feeling, stability in ruts and braking pumps, and less weight transfer.
The hydraulic clutch offers stable performance and keeps the meshing point constant during continued riding. It provides excellent feel for the meshing point, smooth clutch feathering action and light operation.
The YZ450F meets the latest noise regulations. Its exhaust features a centrally positioned resonator, while the air cleaner also houses a resonator and a duct to reduce induction noise. The muffler’s attachment angle allows easy pick-up at the rear fender.
The YZ450F features a frame with optimised rigidity to ensure a smooth ride, great comfort and a planted feel when riding over bumps and landing jumps. The bike also achieves excellent stability and cornering performance.
The YZ450F’s suspension achieves great feel for traction as well as stability. The KYB rear shock is specifically developed for a smoother transition from slow- to highspeed damping. Adding to the versatility is the hand-operated compression damping adjuster.
