MT Enter a new dimension to the Dark Side of Japan with the Manual Transmission (MT) setting, providing slick and sporty finger-operated shifts at the touch of a see-saw lever on the left handlebar. The speed and precision of each shift are more consistent than when using even the latest manual quickshifter, enhancing the excitement and adrenaline in the sportiest of riding conditions.

AT In the Automatic Transmission (AT) setting, riders can choose between two modes to suit different scenarios. For a more spirited ride, opt for D+, offering sporty and aggressive gear changes at the higher end of the rev range. For long-distance or urban rides, D mode delivers a softer and smoother gear shift experience.

Switch effortlessly between AT and MT while riding using an intuitive paddle AT/MT button located on the top of the right handlebar cluster. MT gear changes are executed through a tactile see-saw switch at your left-hand fingertips, offering a choice between finger and thumb operation. In AT mode, switch between D+ and D with a dedicated thumb-operated MODE button.

The Smart Key System embodies the MT-09-YAM’s premium specification, allowing you to immediately and effortlessly start your ride. The system works seamlessly as long as the Smart Key is within a specified range, such as in your pocket.

The MT-09-YAM is an agile and versatile motorcycle, designed to be the perfect tool whether you're looking for a spirited and sporty afternoon blast or a more relaxed ride. MT mode maximizes the thrill of the MT-09’s sportiness on twisty roads, with fast and slick gearshifts enabling hyper-focused cornering, braking, and throttle application. AT mode caters to both sporty and everyday street riding, with D+ mode tuned for more spirited riding and D mode providing convenience for city commutes and longer journeys.
